Women’s Basketball Falls to Mercer County Community College

Middletown, NY - The SUNY Orange women's basketball team struggled to find rhythm against #15 Mercer County Community College 94-23. With this loss the Colts move to 1-14 on the season while the Vikings improve to 14-3.

The Colts found themselves trailing early as Mercer took a commanding lead of 30-8 in the first quarter. The Vikings continued to control the first half going into halftime leading 48-13. Coming back from the break Mercer continued their fast pace play, outscoring the Colts 46-10 in the second half. 

For the Colts freshman Grace Breheny (Cornwall, NY / Cornwall Central) led with eight points, 10 rebounds, one assist and two blocks. Sophomore Adriana Vazquez (Newburgh, NY / John. S. Burke) added eight points, eight rebounds and one assist. 

The Colts are back in action Tuesday, January 27, as they travel to Rockland Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
