Women’s Basketball Defeated by LaGuardia on Saturday
Middletown, N.Y. - The SUNY Orange women's basketball team fell to the Red Hawks of LaGuardia Community College on Saturday by a score of 71-64. SUNY Orange now falls to 0-5 as the Red Hawks improve to 2-3.
The Colts opened the game with high energy, applying heavy pressure. Their early intensity paid off as they were up 17- 11 by the end of the first quarter. SUNY Orange kept that pressure going in the second, outsourcing the Red Hawks 27-21 and heading into halftime with a 44-32 advantage.
After halftime, the momentum shifted away from the Colts as the Red Hawks began to take control. The Red Hawks outscored the Colts 39-20 in the second half.
Freshman Jada Reed (Eldred, NY/Eldred) led the Colts with 18 points. She also chipped in three assists, two steals, and four rebounds.
The Colts are back in action December 3 as they host SUNY Broome. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
