Two Game Split Against Middlesex

The second double header of the week for the SUNY Orange Colts softball team as they traveled to Middlesex College for a Saturday afternoon showdown.

In Game #1 The Colts were able to take control of Middlesex late in the game after being tied at 3 runs each. The Colts were the first to put runs on the board but were not held for long as Middlesex was able to score three runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to give them a 3-1 lead. The Colts were able to dig deep and had a huge sixth inning where they scored five runs to give the Colts an 8-4 lead. Middlesex were then able to score two runs in the seventh and final inning but it was not enough to complete their comeback as the Colts took game one with a score of 8-6.

On the mound for the Colts was #24 Gianna Catletti pitched all game where she let up 6 runs and 9 hits while walking 3 batters and striking out 6 out of 35 total batters that stepped up to the plate. 

Game #2 started off with a bang as the Colts managed to score the first run of the game but unfortunately were unable to score again until the 7th inning where they evened the score at 2-2 before Middlesex finished off the game scoring the final run of the game giving the Colts their first loss of the season. In both games the Colts managed to earn 9 hits in each. CF Dawn Grover smashed a ball for a Triple and later scored from Gianna Catletti who scored the games only two RBI's.

#4 Molly Martin was on the mound in Game #2 as she allowed just 3 runs and in 28 batters faced struck out 6 and allowed 7 hits in 6.1 innings that were pitched.
