Pacciarelli Breaks Colts Single Season Scoring Record
Danville, IL - Standout freshman Anthony Pacciarelli (Monroe, NY / St. Joseph Regional) came into the Colts' first round NJCAA Division II Championship matchup needing just 16 points to break the program's single season scoring record. In typical Pacciarelli fashion, he scored that and plenty more.
Pacciarelli left Mary Miller Gymnasium with 33 points and the lone spot atop the Colts single season scoring list. Pacciarelli currently has 802 points on the year, passing Romeo Aquino who scored 784 points in 2022-23 and earned National Player of the Year honors.
"What Anthony has been able to do this year is a testament to his work ethic and his dedication to his craft," said Head Coach Tom Rickard. "He shows up every day determined to get better and the results of that hard work are showing. I couldn't be more proud of him."
"Coming in I knew I was close but I wasn't thinking about it during the game," said Pacciarelli of breaking the record. "The only goal was to win the game and move on to tomorrow."
Pacciarelli is currently the Division II scoring leader and the only player in country with over 800 points. He is currently second in the nation among all Division II players in points per game, averaging 26.7 points. He has scored 30 or more points 12 times this season, including a career-high 50 points against Ulster on February 10, the second most in a single game in program history. His nine three-pointers in that game are tied for the second most in a game in program history.
Following the regular season, Pacciarelli was named the Region XV Division II Player of the Year and Region XV Division II First Team All-Region. After the region tournament, Pacciarelli was named to the All-Tournament Team and was named Tournament MVP.
