Pacciarelli Named January Region XV Athlete of the Month

Middletown, NY - SUNY Orange freshman Anthony Pacciarelli (Monroe, NY/St. Joseph Regional) was named NJCAA Region XV Athlete of the Month in Men's Basketball for the month of January, as announced by Region XV Thursday. This is Pacciarelli's second time being named Athlete of the Month, after earning the honor for the month of November.

Pacciarelli led the Colts to a 7-2 record in January, averaging 29.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. He recorded three straight double-doubles, scoring 21 points and pulling down 10 rebounds against ninth-ranked Monroe on January 10 before totaling 33 points and 13 rebounds against Hostos on January 13. Pacciarelli followed that up with a then career-high 38 points and 13 rebounds against Morris on January 18.

Pacciarelli set a new career-high with 41 points against Jamestown on January 18, breaking Orange's freshman single game scoring record. Through nine games, Pacciarelli shot 50.9% from the field and 40.3 from three-point distance, as well as 80.6% from the free-throw line.

Pacciarelli is currently ranked third in the nation among NJCAA Division II players in points per game (25.1) and fifth in total points (501).
