Pacciarelli Breaks Freshman Scoring Record as Colts Defeat Jamestown CC
Jamestown, NY - Freshman Anthony Pacciarelli (Monroe, NY / St. Joseph) scored a career-high 41 points as SUNY Orange men's basketball earned a hard fought 89-83 victory over Jamestown Community College on Sunday afternoon. The Colts improve to 16-2 as the Jayhawks drop to 10-6 on the season.
Pacciarelli's 41 points broke the Colts single-game freshman scoring record. The record was previously held by Darius Boben who scored 40 against Dutchess in 2022. Pacciarelli added four rebounds, and three assists.
Sophomore Johnny Floyd (Bronx, NY / James Monroe) added 12 points with six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Keishawn Morris (Brooklyn, NY / South Shore) also chipped in 12 points on 6-12 shooting.
The Colts got off to a strong start, taking a 2-0 lead on a jumper by Giovani Rupert, but Jamestown responded quickly. Pacciarelli pushed the Colts ahead 5-2. The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading points in a tight contest. The Colts pulled away to a 35-18 lead, but Jamestown closed the gap with an 18-8 run over the final eight minutes. SUNY Orange led 43-36 at the break.
The second half remained competitive, with both teams exchanging baskets. The Colts forced four turnovers and capitalized on them effectively. Despite Jamestown keeping the game tight, the Colts held on to secure an 89-83 victory.
The Colts remain on the road for their next game, traveling to Lackawanna College on January 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
