Middletown, NY - The SUNY Orange men's soccer team defeated Queensborough Community College 2-1 on Saturday for their first win of the season. The Colts move to 1-2 on the season as the Tigers drop to 0-2.
The Tigers scored the games' first goal in the 14th minute as Juan Rambal found the net off an assist from Marc Antoine.
Momentum would completely change in the 33rd minute as sophomore Ricardo Arias sent a cross from the right wing into the box and sophomore Okief Barrett buried the volley into the back of the net to even the score at 1-1.
The Colts and Tigers were deadlocked at the break and the score remained tied until the 74th minute.
Freshman Pedro Gonzales made a run up the right wing before lofting a cross into the box that found the head of freshman Jaedan Walker who slid it past the Tigers goalie to take a 2-1 lead.
The Colts defense would hold strong throughout the remainder of the second half, turning away late attempt after late attempt to help secure the win for SUNY Orange.
Freshman goalkeeper Dominic Vega finished the afternoon with two saves and allowed one goal.
The Colts are back in action on Tuesday, September 16 at US Military Academy Preparatory School. Kickoff is scheduled at 4PM.
