Bio

Ryan Carter is entering his first year as Head Coach at SUNY Orange after serving the past nine years as Assistant Head Coach.

In that role, he assisted with the day-to-day operations of practices and game days, primarily working with outfielders and hitters. His responsibilities also included coaching first base and third base during games, as well as contributing to roster construction, recruiting, and supporting the academic success of his student-athletes. A central focus of the program under Coach Carter’s leadership is player development both in the classroom and on the field, with the goal of guiding student-athletes toward expanded transfer opportunities after attending and playing at SUNY Orange.

“I am extremely honored to be named the Head Coach of my alma mater and excited to help usher the Colts into a new era of competitive junior college baseball that the program was once known for,”

Prior to returning to SUNY Orange, Coach Carter served as the Assistant Head Coach at Burke Catholic High School, where he worked with players at all positions and contributed to overall player development and program growth.

Coach Carter attended SUNY Orange from 2008 to 2010, earning his associate degree. During his time as a student-athlete, he was a member of the 2009–2010 baseball team that won the conference championship and advanced to the regional tournament. As the Colts’ starting left fielder, he made his mark with strong defensive play, heart, and hustle.

Following his time at SUNY Orange, Coach Carter continued his education at SUNY New Paltz from 2010 to 2012, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Sociology.
