Baseball Takes Down Westchester
Middletown, NY - The SUNY Orange baseball team took down Westchester with a final score of 5-2 on Monday, April 27.
The Vikings got on the board first, bringing in one run, but the Colts quickly responded, bringing in two runs on an RBI double from Jonas Kerzner (Wallkill, NY / Wallkill).
In the second inning the Colts added one run thanks to an RBI single from Jackson Atwell (Newburgh, NY / Beacon). The Colts extended their lead by adding two more runs in the third off an RBI double from Ryan Fernandez (Highland Mills, NY / Monroe-Woodbury).
The Vikings tried to respond in the seventh inning, bringing in one run, but it was not enough and the Colts secured the 5-2 victory.
Gavin Rounds (Montgomery, NY / Valley Central) got the start for the Colts facing 27 batters, allowing one earned run and recording three strikeouts. Anthony Borromeo (Beacon, NY / Beacon) made an appearance facing nine batters, allowing one earned run, andGarrett Srednicki (Warwick, NY / Warwick) faced four batters, allowing no earned runs with one strikeout.
Next up, the Colts play host to Ulster County Community College on Thursday, April 30 at 3:30 p.m.
