Ninth-Inning Rally Lifts Baseball to Walk-Off Win Over Rockland
Middletown, NY - The Colts came back in the ninth inning to secure a 8-7 victory over Rockland Community College.
The game was scoreless till the Hawks took a 5-0 lead in the third inning, they extended that lead in the fourth with one run. The Colts scored one run in the fourth thanks to an RBI single from AJ Grant (Highland, NY / Highland).
The Colts added one run in the fifth off an RBI single from Thomas Grogan (Newburgh, NY / Marlboro) to cut their deficit to 6-2.
In the ninth inning, the Hawks brought in one run, but the Colts responded with six runs.Jackson Atwell (Newburgh, NY / Beacon) sparked the rally after driving in one run.Michael Fontaine (Wappingers Falls, NY / Beacon) drove in two runs with a single to left field. Grant added another run on a sac fly to right field. Ryan Fernandez (Highland Mills, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) sealed the victory for the Colts, driving in two runs with a line-drive single to right field.
Anthony Borromeo (Beacon, NY / Beacon) got the start for the Colts facing 26 batters allowing six earned runs and striking out three. Michael Schnitzer (Wartboro, NY / Monticello) made an appearance facing 11 batters allowing no earned runs and striking out two batters. Shaun Misczuk (Port Jervis, NY / Port Jervis) faced four batters allowing no earned runs with one strike out.
