Baseball Dominates Dutchess
Middletown, NY - The SUNY Orange baseball team took down Dutchess Community College with a dominant final score of 11-1. With this victory the Colts improve to 1-8, as the Falcons fall 0-10.
The Colts came out with energy quickly bringing in three runs in the first inning. Freshman Garrett Srednicki (Warwick, NY / Warwick) got things started with an RBI single, followed by sophomore AJ Grant (Highland, NY / Highland) who added an RBI single of his own. Alex Sanchez (Middletown, NY / Middletown) added another run on a groundout to make it 3-0.
SUNY Orange kept the momentum going in the second inning driving in three more runs. Sophomore Michael Fontaine (Wappingers Falls, NY / Beacon) had a two run RBI from a single to left field. Grant drove in another run off a single to left field to bring the Colts to a 6-0 advantage.
In the third inning the Falcons were able to bring in one run, but the Colts answered right back with two more runs. Jackson Atwell (Newburgh, NY / Beacon) singled to right field to bring in a run. Jonas Kerzner (Wallkill, NY / Wallkill) added an RBI of his own after a double to center field.
Fontaine added another two run RBI after a double to left field in the fifth inning. The Colts scored one more run in the sixth inning thanks to an RBI single from Sanchez, bringing the final score to 11-1.
Freshman Srednicki earned the win for the Colts, pitching 4.0 innings and facing 16 batters while allowing no earned runs and recording seven strikeouts. Anthony Borromeo (Beacon, NY / Beacon) also made an appearance, pitching 2.0 innings, facing eight batters and striking out two.
Fontaine delivered a standout performance, going 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs.
The Colts are back in action on Thursday, April 9 as they travel to face Ulster County Community College.
