Baseball Falls to Monroe University-Bronx
Bronx, NY - The SUNY Orange baseball team dropped a road game to Monroe University-Bronx 13-2. With this loss the Colts move to 0-8 as the Express improves to 9-7.
The Express took the lead, scoring one run in the first inning. The Colts responded in the second inning when Michael Schnitzer (Wappingers Falls, NY / Beacon) hit a two-run home run to go up 2-1. Monroe University answered right back, tying the game at 2-2 with a run of their own in the inning.
Monroe University-Bronx regained control in the third, scoring three runs to pull ahead. The Colts were unable to answer and the express continued to add runs. Bringing in two runs in the fourth, and six more in the fifth inning, to secure the 13-2 victory.
Gavin Rounds (Montgomery, NY / Valley Central) got the start, facing 24 batters, allowing five earned runs, and striking out two. Alex Sanchez (Middletown, NY / Middletown) made an appearance, facing six batters and allowing five earned runs.
The Colts are back in action on Tuesday, April 7 at 3:30 pm, to face Dutchess Community College at home.
